How long is a Food Safety Manager Certification valid?

Do I need to take a class before taking the exam?

In most cases, training is recommended but not always required. We offer several options to help you prepare, including in-person classes, virtual classes, and online self-paced courses. We recommend checking with your local regulatory authority to confirm what is required of you.

Do you offer Spanish classes or classes in other languages?

Our in-person class is taught only in English, however we can provide the course book and exam in Spanish. We can also provide the exam in Chinese, French Canadian, and Korean.

Additionally, there is a full online course with online proctored exam that is offered entirely in Spanish.

Registration & Payment

How do I register for a class?

You can register online through our website at FoodSafetyPA.com OR MBakosAssociates.com or call us toll-free at 866-826-2682.

How much is the class?

The one day in-person class & exam is $193.95 with the course book and $168 without the course book.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards and online payments through our secure registration system.

Can I pay at the class?

No, payments need to be received in advance of the event to reserve your seat.

Can I register multiple employees at once?

Yes. Businesses may register multiple employees for any available class by adjusting the quantity when registering. You can also contact us for group registration assistance at 866-826-2682.

Certificates & Results

When will I receive my certificate?

Online exam results and certificate will be available the same day. Paper exam results can take 7-14 business days. Certificates are only made available digitally for you to download and print. If you require a paper copy to be mailed to you, you can request this via email or phone.

What score do I need to pass?

Most Food Safety Manager Certification exams require a minimum passing score of 70%.

What if I lose my certificate?

Replacement certificates are generally available. Contact us and we will help direct you,

Renewals

My certificate is expiring. What should I do?

Food Safety Manager Certifications typically expire after five years. You must pass another accredited Food Safety Manager Certification examination to renew your certification.

Do you offer renewal courses?

Yes. We offer both in-person and online renewal options..

Can I just take the exam without the class?

Yes, you can register for the exam portion only  the pricing for this will not include the class or any study materials. To register for the in-person exam only, select “‘Recertification Exam Only” from the menu on our website.

Can I pick up a study book or materials?

No. Study books and materials are not available for pickup. Materials are mailed directly to the address provided during registration.

When will I receive my study book?

Delivery times vary depending on the date of your class or exam, registration date, shipping schedules, and carrier delivery times. We recommend registering as early as possible to allow sufficient time for delivery.

Do you guarantee delivery by a specific date?

No. While we make every effort to process registrations promptly, delivery times are dependent on shipping carriers and cannot be guaranteed.

Can I have my study materials shipped to a different address?

Yes. Please provide the desired shipping address during registration or contact us immediately after registering.

What if my study materials have not arrived?

Please contact us if your materials have not arrived within a reasonable timeframe. We will be happy to review the shipment status with you.

Class Attendance & Scheduling

What are the class hours?

Our in-person class and exam runs from 8am to 2pm.

Do I need to attend the entire class?

Yes. Students are expected to attend the entire class session to receive the full training experience and prepare for the certification exam.

What happens if I am late to class?

Late arrivals may miss important training content. Depending on the circumstances, you may be required to reschedule.

Virtual Classes

Will I receive Zoom information automatically?

Yes. Registered students will receive Zoom instructions and connection information before their scheduled class.

What if I cannot find my Zoom email?

Check your spam, junk, promotions, and clutter folders. If you still cannot locate the information, contact us for assistance.

Can I attend a virtual class using a smartphone?

While some students may be able to connect using a smartphone, a computer or tablet is strongly recommended for the best learning experience. The online proctored exam that will follow the zoom class will require the use of a computer or laptop with a webcam and microphone.

Online Self-Paced Courses

Can I complete the online course at any time?

Yes. The online self-paced course is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during your access period.

How long does the online course take to complete?

Completion times vary depending on the student. Most students complete the course within 6-8 hours.

Do I have to complete the online course in one sitting?

No. You may log out and return later to continue where you left off.

How long will I have access to the online course?

You will have 90 days from the date of purchase to complete the course and online exam.

Exam Questions

What identification do I need for the exam?

A valid government-issued photo ID is typically required for all certification exams.If you do not have a valid photo ID you can contact us to discuss alternatives.

Are there any age requirements?

No, there is no age requirement. However we recommend a minimum age of 14 years old.

What if I Fail the exam?

We offer 1 free retest for our in-person exams and then it is $59 for each additional retest.

 

Business & Group Training

Do you offer onsite training at our facility/Private Classes?

Yes. We offer private onsite training for businesses, organizations, schools, healthcare facilities, and food service operations.

How many employees can attend a private class?

Private class sizes vary. We require a mnimum of 10 students to schedule a private class. Contact us for a customized quote based on your training needs.
